The Vuelta a Espana 2024 has been running since 17 August 2024 and takes the professional cyclists on 21 stages from the start in Lisbon in Portugal to the finish in Madrid. The battle for the overall leader's red jersey fascinates cycling fans around the globe. Without Tadej Pogacar (UAE Team Emirates) and Jonas Vingegaard (Visma | Lease a Bike), the two high-flyers in the tours, Primoz Roglic from the German cycling team Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe as Top favourite at the Vuelta at the start. The Slovenian has already won the third Grand Tour of the year three times in 2019, 2020 and 2021 and is aiming for his fourth success, which would bring him level with record winner Roberto Heras from Spain. His challengers, such as Joao Almeida (UAE Team Emirates), defending champion Sep Kuss (Visma | Lease a Bike), Carlos Rodriguez (Ineos Grenadiers), Mikel Landa (Soudal - Quick Step), Enric Mas (Movistar), Richard Carapaz (EF Education EasyPost) or Ben O'Connor (Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale) should not be underestimated, however.
Unlike the Tour de France, the second Grand Tour of the year after the Giro d'Italia, the Vuelta a Espana 2024 will not be broadcast by ARD. Nevertheless, the race can be seen on free TV. Eurosport 1 is showing the Tour of Spain 2024 today and on all other stage days on linear television. The Vuelta 2024 can also be followed via live stream. The paid streaming service Discovery Plus offers a live stream for every stage.

The Vuelta started on 17 August in Lisbon and ends three weeks later on 8 September in the Spanish capital Madrid. The 21 stages cover a distance of more than 3000 kilometres. The course is extremely mountainous. The organiser has only one explicitly flat stage, as well as five low mountain stages, eight mountain stages, five hilly stages and two individual time trials, which mark the beginning and end of the 2024 Tour of Spain.
