The Carinthia200 racing bike event in Carinthia has increased its participant limit from the original 1,500 to 2,000 starting places. This decision was taken following exceptionally high demand, after the first 1,500 starting places were sold out within just 26 days of the event. Opening of the registrationg were fully booked. The event in the Villach region offers participants three different distances: 200 kilometres, 155 kilometres and 125 kilometres. All routes are completely closed to traffic during the race to ensure maximum safety. A special feature of the event is the concept of free route selection during the race, allowing riders to choose flexibly between the different distances. According to the organisers, the final route details will be published shortly.

Carinthia200 promises safety

The decision to increase the number of participants was made after a detailed examination of all operational, safety-related and infrastructural conditions. Julius Rupitsch, organiser of the Carinthia200, emphasises: "26 days until sold out - this momentum speaks for itself. We are responding to this with responsibility and a clear priority: safety, quality and a first-class riding experience remain our benchmark." The expansion has also been secured from a sporting and organisational perspective. Race Director Patrick Schörkmayer explains that all relevant factors have been evaluated - from track capacity and safety concepts to catering and infrastructure. The increase to 2,000 participants is operationally feasible and contributes directly to a controlled, high-quality race.

Economic stimulus for the region

The increase in the number of participants will also provide a significant economic boost for the Villach region. Georg Overs, Managing Director of the Villach region, expects the increase to result in over 8,000 overnight stays. The first impulses are already being felt in the businesses, which are making investments to establish the racing bike product in the region. With the expansion to 2,000 participants, Carinthia200 is emphasising its ambition to position itself sustainably as one of the leading road bike events in Austria and the Alps-Adriatic region - with international appeal and measurable added value for Carinthia.

Carinthia200 supporting programme

In addition to the actual race, the Carinthia200 also offers an extensive supporting programme. From Thursday to Saturday, there will be an expo and various side events to round off the racing bike weekend. The event is based on a professional concept with completely closed roads, which is particularly attractive for ambitious amateur cyclists. The three distances on offer of 200, 155 and 125 kilometres allow different levels of ability to take part in the event. The free choice of route during the race also offers flexibility for participants to adapt their distance to their form on the day.
