Longer, further, higher: With the new Pinarello Nytro E, the traditional Italian manufacturer is rewriting the Olympic motto and promising cyclists "a riding experience like in the fittest times". In order to be able to ride longer, further and higher, Pinerallo has equipped the new bike with the HPR50 drive from Bavarian motor manufacturer TQ. Most recently BMC, Trek and Scott equipped their new e-road bikes and e-gravel bikes with the same drive.
The TQ-HPR50 delivers a maximum torque of 50 Newton metres and provides support with a maximum of 300 watts. The riding data is shown on a 2-inch display integrated into the top tube. According to the manufacturer, the drive unit weighs 1850 grams. The entire unit with integrated 360 Wh battery weighs 3900 grams. By comparison, the Mahle X-20, which is currently considered the lightest motor and is used on the Rose Reveal Plus with 55 Newton metres and 250 watts, is 700 grams lighter.
In addition to its compact design, the TQ drive scores points for its natural riding feel and low noise levels - no other motor is currently quieter. More information about the HPR50 and a detailed Laboratory and practical test from our colleagues at EMTB magazine. Until now, the Nytro was equipped with the 4600 gram Evation Ride 50 from Fazua (55 Nm, 250 watts).
The new Pinarello Nytro E has not only been given one of the best drive units currently available, but the Italians have also optimised the head tube, down tube and seat stays aerodynamically. The e-road bike also adopts the flat carbon seatpost, the asymmetric chainstays and the striking Onda fork from the iconic Dogma F. Unlike the previous Nytro, the cables are integrated into the handlebars and stem. The E-gravel bike comes with a standard round seat post.
The riding position is suitable for long distances on both the Road and Gravel models. The maximum tyre clearance is 32 and 50 millimetres for both versions. As with the new F- and X-Series different carbon qualities. According to the Italians, the frame of the Nytro Road weighs 1130 grams, while the gravel version is said to be 120 grams heavier. Pinarello specifies the lightest complete bike at 11.4 kilos. The BMC Roadmachine AMP and the Trek Domane+ SLR with the same motor weigh 400 grams more.
Pinarello offers three equipment variants in each of the two categories. The E-road bikes shift electronically with Shimano, the E-gravel bikes with wireless technology from SRAM. The top models with Dura-Ace Di2 or Red AXS and exclusive carbon wheels almost reach the price level of a Dogma F at a proud 13,500 and 13,000 euros respectively. The supposedly basic versions with 105 Di2 or Rival AXS and simple aluminium wheels from Fulcrum are also anything but a bargain at 8500 and 8000 euros respectively.
