Orbea Gain, BMC Roadmachine AMP, Trek Domane+ or Wilier Filante Hybrid: the number of racing bikes with electric motors has increased in recent months. Now a German manufacturer is following suit with Rose. The Reveal Plus is designed to give "cycling newcomers an introduction to racing bikes" and "compensate for the differences in performance during group rides or training sessions".
To achieve this, the Bocholt-based company has equipped its marathon model with the latest drive from Mahle. The X 20 motor on the rear hub is said to weigh just 3.2 kilos and provide a torque of 55 Newton metres (Nm). The battery integrated into the down tube has a capacity of 250 watt hours (Wh). According to Rose, the Reveal Plus can cover up to 100 kilometres. An optionally available range extender with 185 Wh extends the range by 70 kilometres.
The frame geometry of the E-road bike is similar to the Rose Reveal, which was revised in 2022. TOUR comparison test of marathon bikes with Ultegra Di2 narrowly missed out on the test victory, and puts the rider in an emphatically upright riding position. A flattened carbon seatpost is designed to smooth out vibrations. The Plus version can be recognised by the more voluminous down tube and the control unit on the top tube, which can be used to select three support levels while riding. Riding modes can also be customised using an app.
Rose offers the Reveal Plus e-road bike in two equipment variants. With Shimano 105, aluminium wheels and handlebar/stem unit, the Reveal Plus 3999 Euro and weighs 11.3 kilos according to the manufacturer. The top model is equipped with Shimano Ultegra Di2, carbon wheels and cockpit, is said to weigh 10.9 kilos and is available at Rose available from 6499 euros.
