The traditional manufacturer from Treviso stands for racing like no other. Countless successes in World Tour races in recent years are closely linked to the name Pinarello. However, the Italians now want to make a name for themselves in the endurance sector with a new marathon racing bike and have developed the "X" for this purpose.
In contrast to the F models, the "X" comes with a geometry suitable for long distances. The riding position is emphatically upright and, according to the manufacturer, the stack/reach ratio is 1.58. This makes the new model even more comfortable than the Paris (1.55), which can no longer be found in the new price lists.
Because an upright riding position alone does not make a specialist for long distances, Pinarello relies on two essential comfort elements. Firstly, as with comparable endurance models, up to 32 millimetre wide tyres fit through the frame and fork on the "X". Secondly, slightly curved seat stays are designed to absorb vibrations on poor terrain.
For weight reasons, Pinarello has dispensed with a mechanical damping system, such as that used on the Trek Domane or Wilier Granturismo knows. According to the manufacturer, the frame weighs 1050 grams and the fork should weigh 470 grams. Thanks to the use of T600 carbon fibres from Toray, the chassis should offer significantly more flex than the frame of the Professional bolides Dogma F.
Of course, the topic of aerodynamics is not left out for a brand with a strong racing DNA. This means that the cables are integrated into the handlebar/stem unit, which should make the Pinarello X five watts faster compared to external cables. The down tube and seat tube have also been aero-optimised. The Pinarello inherits the flat carbon seatpost and integrated clamp from the Dogma F12.
The Italians offer their new marathon bike in three equipment variants and exclusively with simple aluminium wheels from Shimano or Fulcrum. The X1 with mechanical 105 and Shimano WH RS-171 costs 3680 euros, the X3 with electronic 105 or Rival AXS and Fulcrum Racing 800DB is priced at 5660 and 6070 euros respectively. The X1 is listed in white and black, while the X3 is available in black and red. As with the new F models, nine frame sizes with a wide range are offered.
