More system integration than on the 695 Aerolight is currently not available on road bikes. The steering bearings, the angle-adjustable stem, the aero seat post decoupled from the frame by elastomers and the bottom bracket set were developed especially for this model.

The Aerolight also differs from the "normal" 695 in its integrated brakes. At the front, the brake arms are integrated positively into the fork blades, while V-brakes from TRP are fitted behind the bottom bracket. Functionally, the sophisticated solution is impressive, but the cable routing, especially at the front through the stem and steerer tube, is a challenge even for experienced mechanics. On the other hand, the ZED2 crankset is quick to fit. The one-piece, super-stiff, variable-length system of cranks and shaft rotates around huge bearings with a diameter of 65 millimetres. At 320 grams without chainrings, but including bearings, it is record-breakingly light, and thanks to two bolt circles, both compact and standard chainrings fit. The suspension is not super stable, but experienced riders will get on well with it. The effect of the elastomers on the seat post can at best be guessed at, but the bike doesn't feel overly hard either. Incidentally, the sporty riding position makes it clear that comfort was not the primary development goal. Above all, the 6.3-kilo racer wants to be ridden fast.
