The Tour of the Algarve is traditionally the first race of the season for many stars of the cycling scene. This year is no exception for the two-time Tour de France winner Jonas Vingegaard (Team Visma | Lease a Bike) and Primož Roglič from Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe. They are joined by other stars such as Wout van Aert (Team Visma | Lease a Bike), João Almeida (UAE Team Emirates - XRG), Biniam Girmay (Intermarché - Wanty) or Arnaud De Lie (Lotto).

First held in 1960, the stage race has developed into one of the most important cycling races in Portugal. In 2025, the tour comprises five stages, the fifth of which is an individual time trial. The remaining stages offer both mountain finishes and flat sections, so that different types of riders are challenged. The traditional highlights include the mountain finishes on Alto da Foia and Alto do Malhão, which will once again be part of the race in 2025. The latter is part of the individual time trial on the last day of the tour.
