The Tour of Chongming Island is a round trip that extends over three stages. In the 2024 race calendar, it is the last tour of the season, after which only the one-day Tour of Guangxi race remains for the riders. All three sections are usually flat stages, meaning that in most cases the sprinters decide the overall victory among themselves. Last year, sprint specialist Chiara Consonni from Italy won the tour. Two Germans have also won the Tour of Chongming: Ina-Yoko Teutenberg in 2010 and 2011 and Charlotte Becker in 2018. Between 2020 and 2022, the race was cancelled three times in a row due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Tour of Chongming Island 2024: The route
Chongming Dao Island is the second largest island in China and is largely part of the city of Shanghai. It is home to 660,000 people and is located at the mouth of the Yangtze River, the largest river in China. Because the highest point of Chongming Dao is only 9 metres above sea level, there are no climbs on the island and therefore only flat stages. Sprinters have the best chance of winning the day and the overall victory on all three stages.

Tour of Chongming Island 2024: TV broadcast and live stream
The Tour of Chongming Island 2024 will not be broadcast live on television in Germany. The finals of all stages will be broadcast on the paid streaming service Discovery Plus offered.
