As expected, the 2nd stage of Tirreno-Adriatico ended in a bunch sprint. After 210 kilometres between Camaiore and Follonica, Fabio Jakobsen (Soudal - Quick Step) just ahead of Jasper Philipsen (Alpecin-Deceuninck) and Fernando Gaviria (Movistar), who had opened the sprint very early. The best German was Phil Bauhaus (Bahrain-Victorious). The 28-year-old finished in sixth place.
There were no shifts in the top three places in the overall standings. Lennard Kämna (Bora-Hansgrohe), who came second in the opening time trial behind Filippo Ganna (Ineos Grenadiers) finished with the peloton and retained second place, 28 seconds behind the Italian world hour record holder.
The third stage of Tirreno-Adriatico 2023 continues on Wednesday. It leads over 216 kilometres from Folloncia to Foligno. The long-distance race ends on Sunday after seven stages in San Benedetto del Tronto on the Adriatic coast.
