Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe will be pursuing a double strategy at the upcoming Vuelta a España. The German World Tour team is entering the race with the 2022 Giro d'Italia winner Jai Hindley as captain for the overall classification, but at the same time wants to ride aggressively and achieve stage wins. In addition to Hindley, the line-up includes Giulio Pellizzari, Giovanni Aleotti, Nico Denz, Finn Fisher-Black, Matteo Sobrero, Ben Zwiehoff and Tim van Dijke, seven other riders who bring a mixture of climbing strength and potential for stage success.

Originally, Jonas Koch was also in the squad of the Raubling racing team. However, the 32-year-old German has been cancelled at short notice due to illness and will be replaced by Ben Zwiehoff.

The Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe Vuelta team at a glance

Hindley as experienced captain

The 29-year-old Australian Jai Hindley once again takes on the role of team captain at the Vuelta. His climbing skills and experience in three-week tours make him the clear leader at the Vuelta. Hindley won the Giro d'Italia in 2022, proving his ability to win a Grand Tour. Sports Director Patxi Vila goes into more detail about the Vuelta strategy in the team's press release: "With Jai Hindley, we have our leader for the overall standings in a very balanced team. We want to be competitive, actively shape the race, ride aggressively and support Jai, but we will also go for stage wins. That is a key goal for us."

Pellizzari as an up-and-coming talent

With the 21-year-old Giulio Pellizzari, Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe is sending a promising talent into the race who has already impressed at this year's Giro d'Italia. The Vuelta will be the young Italian's second three-week tour this season. Pellizzari should take the next step in his development at the Tour of Spain and benefit from the experience of his Australian team-mate Hindley.

The defending Vuelta champions are not taking part Primož Roglič and shooting star Florian Lipowitz. Roglič already has the Giro d'Italia in his legs, where he had to abandon, and the Tour de France. Following his third place in the Tour de France 2025, Lipowitz will next race in the Tour of Germany.
