Movistar rider Cat Ferguson will miss this year’s Tour de France Femmes due to injury. She will need several weeks to recover and, as well as the Tour, will also miss the British Championships. Ferguson had already secured three victories in 2026, including the Trofeo Llucmajor and the Navarra Classic.
Following the mass fall on 30 May, Ferguson was initially examined for skull fractures. The tests proved negative, so she was able to return home. Over the following three weeks, however, it became apparent that her recovery was not progressing as expected. Further examinations then confirmed the diagnosis: two fractures of the ankle, which had been overlooked in the initial tests.

The British rider had made a strong start to the 2026 season. She won the Trofeo Llucmajor in Mallorca, a stage of the Setmana Ciclista Comunitat Valenciana and the Navarra Women’s Elite Classic. At Omloop Het Nieuwsblad, Cat Ferguson achieved her best result in a classic, finishing fourth. The Giro was set to be her first Grand Tour of the season, but it was over before she had even completed a full stage.
Movistar has announced that Cat Ferguson needs several weeks’ rest to allow her broken bones to heal completely. This means the Tour de France Femmes, taking place from 1 to 9 August, comes too soon for her. The 20-year-old will also have to miss the British Championships. It is not yet clear exactly when she will be able to return to racing. The Tour of Britain Women, starting on 19 August, could be a possible race for her comeback.
