Canyon is expanding the new Endurace series with the CF SLX and CF platforms. While the CF SLX comes with a new frame design, the CF remains an uncomplicated round tube classic. Prices start at 3999 euros for the CF SLX 7 AXS and 1699 euros for the CF 5.

After the Endurace CFR from April, Canyon is now launching the CF SLX and CF versions of the Endurace family. The two platforms round off the bottom end of the Koblenz-based direct seller's comfort racer range, after the CFR was initially only launched as a high-end version with competition geometry. Both models have a comfortable riding position, but differ fundamentally in terms of concept and design: while the CF SLX has been given a new frame shape based on the aerodynamic design of the CFR and Aeroad, the more affordable CF is based on the classic frame of its predecessor.

Endurace CF SLX: Modern comfort racer

The Endurace CF SLX utilises a so-called sport geometry with a higher stack and shorter reach than the Aeroad, Ultimate or Endurace CFR. Compared to its predecessor (and the more affordable Endurace CF), the riding position is slightly more upright with a stack-to-reach ratio of 1.51, while the frame is four millimetres shorter in size M. With its aero design, Canyon promises that the Endurace can achieve a drag of 209 watts at 45 km/h under TOUR test conditions.

All CF SLX models come with electronic drivetrains and wheels with carbon rims; mechanical drivetrains are no longer available in this model range. The frame also has a new storage compartment in the down tube that can hold tools and spare parts.

The new platform offers 38 millimetres of tyre clearance for use on different surfaces, and mudguards can also be fitted. The Canyon DEFEND Fast Fender mudguard system is designed to offer rattle-free protection from splash water and can be fitted and removed in seconds. The frame features the Aero seatpost with cut-out already familiar from the Endurace, which is said to offer 25 per cent more vertical suspension comfort than comparable seatposts.

Endurace CF: Proven classic

The Endurace CF is based on the simple design of its predecessor and uses classic, round carbon seatposts with a diameter of 27.2 mm. Selected CF models are fitted with the VCLS 2.0 seatpost in leaf spring design, which absorbs shocks and vibrations even better. It has been updated with a more modern shape and a bracket for a rear light, but otherwise you can expect comparably good comfort values.

The Endurace CF does not have a storage compartment either, but the frame comes with mounting points for strapless panniers in the frame triangle and on the top tube. The tyre clearance is also 38 millimetres and the matching mudguard set from the accessories can be fitted.

Modified components for all models

Both models use shorter cranks as standard: 165 mm in size M instead of the previous 172.5 mm. The shorter cranks are intended to enable a more open hip angle, lower joint stress and higher pedalling frequencies.

For the Endurace, Canyon has developed new, more compact drops for the PACE handlebars, which are designed to offer a fit optimised for endurance. Various lower bar shapes are possible on the modular basic handlebar to meet different requirements.

Models, prices and availability

Four models of the Endurace CF SLX are available: The Endurace CF SLX 7 AXS costs 3999 euros, the top version SF SLX 9 Di2 comes with Shimano Dura-Ace gears and costs 6999 euros. There are also four versions of the Endurace CF: The CF 5 starts at 1699 euros with the Shimano Cues 2x10 groupset with mechanical shifting. The two most expensive variants CF 7 and CF 8 (2799 and 3299 euros respectively) come with electronic 2x12 drivetrains from SRAM (Rival AXS) or Shimano (Ultegra Di2) and the VCLS leaf spring support.
