The basis for the 2022 series is the Aeroad frame, which has been slightly revised following a sales stop. The CFR, CF SLX and CF SL frame qualities are available for the racer.
"We want to make the all-round performance DNA of the Aeroad accessible to as many riders as possible. To this end, we have developed a wide range of models based on three frame platforms: the Aeroad CFR for professionals, the CF SLX for demanding athletes and the CF SL for price-conscious riders," explains Philipp Hardt, the responsible product manager. With the exception of the CF SL, the cables are integrated in all Aeroad models; only in the cheapest version do the shifting cables run outside the head tube.
"All bikes are equipped with high-quality DT Swiss Aero wheels with a front rim profile adapted to the seven frame sizes for riders from 158-200+ cm. From SLX level upwards, all bikes will be equipped with power meters to control training perfectly," says Hardt. The bikes will also feature fresh artwork, an aerodynamically optimised carbon seatpost with a new plain bearing and reinforced cockpits.
Last year, this was a problem area for the Aeroad. Mathieu van der Poel's handlebars were broken during the "Le Samyn" race in March 2021which led to a revision of the CF SLX and CFR models on which the handlebars were installed. The seatpost also caused problems - all new Aeroad frames now come with a new seal on the seat tube to prevent water and dirt from penetrating.
In addition to three top-of-the-range CFR models, three Aeroad CF SLX bikes are also available. The Aeroad CF SLX 7 Disc eTap with SRAM Rival AXS groupset is available from €4,999 and the Aeroad CF SL 8 Disc with Shimano Ultegra gears and DT Swiss ARC 1600 wheels will cost €3,999.
