The Königstuhl is Heidelberg's local mountain and the highest mountain in the Little Odenwald. There are ascents from several sides - the steepest ascent, directly from Heidelberg's old town, has a gradient of up to 14 per cent. One of the attractions of the Königstuhl is precisely this variety of different routes - including off-road. The Königstuhl offers mountain bikers exciting trails. The Königstuhl was already a sporting executioner during the 2008 Deutschland Tour, although the field of riders did not ride over the segment described here. The Stoppomat Königstuhl segment approaches from the south and begins on the outskirts of Waldhilsbach. It is named after the Stoppomat timing system. From the highest point you have a beautiful view of the Neckar and Heidelberg Castle. The women's record for this steep climb is held by Janine Meyer - the men's record is held by Jason Osborn.
Note: The Hohe Acht at the Nürburgring was not included as the climb is not accessible all year round
