The anniversary weekend in Kufstein begins on Friday, 21 August 2026, with the Aschinger Alm Gaudirace in Ebbs. The mountain time trial is open to professional, amateur and e-bike riders. The prize-giving ceremony will take place right there on the Alm. On Saturday 22 August, the official warm-up session begins at 1.00 pm with various rides. The ‘Cappuccino Ride’ will see former professional Max Kuen and his team cycle through the region for one to two hours at a pace of 22 to 25 km/h.
The “Welcome Ride by female cycling force” sets off at 1.30 pm in front of the Kultur Quartier. The Munich-based community is campaigning for greater visibility for women in cycling. The 40-kilometre ride includes a stop at the beer garden in Schwoich. After the unicycle sessions, there will be a bike-repair workshop in the afternoon. Live music, coffee and a bike expo round off the programme.
On Sunday 23 August, the Rad-Expo opens at 7.00 am. At 7.30 am, participants in the 120-kilometre cycle marathon with 1,800 metres of elevation gain and the 95-kilometre ‘Seenrunde’ with 1,160 metres of elevation gain will set off from the Upper Town Square in Kufstein. At 7.40 am, the starting signal will be given for the 48-kilometre Panorama Tour. At 7.50 am, e-bike and handbike riders will set off for the first time in their own category.
Max Kuen, a former professional cyclist from Kufstein, is taking on the sporting challenge. Miguel Brugger will be lining up alongside him. Last year’s winners, René Pammer and Monika Fritz, are aiming to defend their titles. Ekkehart Kinz is taking part as the oldest competitor and has a personal connection to the event.
The race will be broadcast live. Cycling fans can follow the action from the start and finish area at the Oberer Stadtplatz via a live stream at https://www.kufsteinerland-radmarathon.at/. Between 10.00 and 12.00, the broadcast will feature live commentary, interviews with experts, up-to-the-minute updates on the race and coverage of the leading group.
The Expo Area features a range of exhibitors, including the Niederndorf-based specialist bike shop BikeQuadrat. Physiowerk Kufstein offers restorative massages to help you relax and prevent muscle strain. The pasta party begins at 11.00 am with a selection of pasta dishes.
The route of the Kufsteinerland Cycle Marathon heads uphill just a few kilometres after the start: the first challenging climb awaits straight away as you head towards Hinterthiersee. Further notable climbs are located in Kleinsöll near Breitenbach and on the ascent to Brandenberg. Lake Thiersee, with the Passionsspielhaus theatre, and the views of the Kaiser Mountains and Kufstein Fortress provide a stunning backdrop for participants and spectators alike.
In the Brandenberg area, heading towards Mariatal, traffic will be temporarily halted to allow the leading riders to pass. The Obere Stadtplatz in Kufstein will be closed on Sunday from 6.30 am to 5.00 pm. The L30 Hinterthiersee between the Grub bus turning area and the junction with the L37 towards Landl will be closed from 7.30 am to 10.30 am. Residents are exempt from this closure.
The leading group will pass through Vorderthiersee between 7.45 and 8.00 am, Hinterthiersee between 7.50 and 8.15 am, the Zell district of Kufstein between 8.20 and 8.35 am, Mariastein between 8.35 and 9.00 am, Brandenberg between 9.00 and 9.15 am and Kleinsöll between 10.00 and 10.15 am.
