Jan Ullrich made his "race comeback" at the Riderman. He also handed over cheques for 20,000 euros on site to benefit young cyclists.

Jan Ullrich made his "race comeback" at the Riderman in Bad Dürrheim. On Sunday, he took part in the 94-kilometre road race. He reached the finish line after 3:10 hours in 665th place - around an hour after the winner. He used the ride to chat with other riders - he had no serious sporting goals.

As part of the Riderman a cheque was also handed over. The Tour de France winner had successfully auctioned off his legendary Team Telekom Pinarello racing bike and raised an impressive 20,000 euros in the process. The auction took place during the Tour de France at the Marketplace for used bicyclesbuycycle, takes place. All proceeds will go to two youth cycling organisations: Bikeparcour Bad Dürrheim and RV Merdingen.

The bike from 1998 is in original condition, complete with Continental tyres, Campagnolo Record Titanium groupset and the iconic Telekom paintwork. Jan Ullrich commented on the auction as follows: "This bike holds a lot of memories of my hardest training sessions and biggest races. But the real victory is to use this moment to give something back to the sport I love and help inspire the next generation of cyclists."

Symbolic cheque handovers took place at an event for the Bikeparcour Bad Dürrheim and at the Riderman event for the RV Merdingen. Ullrich thanked all the bidders who took part: "It was heart-warming to see the cycling community come together to support our future champions." The auction took place during the Tour de France - the cheque was handed over in Bad Dürrheim.
