The vintage cycling scene will gather in San Candido on 5 September 2026 for the tenth Eroica Dolomiti. This anniversary edition has attracted a record number of participants from Italy, Germany, Austria, Belgium, France and the United Kingdom. Participants from the USA, Australia, South Africa and the United Arab Emirates are also making the journey. “The Eroica Dolomiti combines a passion for vintage racing bikes with the unique backdrop of the Dolomites. We are particularly delighted to be welcoming guests from 21 nations this year, which shows just how highly the event is now regarded far beyond Europe,” says Dieter Wurmböck, President of the San Candido Tourist Board.
Three routes at Eroica Dolomiti
The shortest route covers 73 kilometres and 1,200 metres of elevation gain, passing through Cortina d’Ampezzo to Lake Misurina and back. The medium route covers 91 kilometres and 1,870 metres of elevation gain, including the climb up to the Plätzwiesen. The queen stage is 118 kilometres long with 2,740 metres of elevation gain and also takes in the Lachwiesen and the Innichberg. On all three routes, the focus is not on the time taken, but on the shared experience of riding historic road bikes.
Supporting programme from Friday
On 4 September, the Vintage Bike Market opens in the centre of San Candido. The Aperitivo Eroica Dolomiti, featuring live music, kicks off the afternoon’s events. At 6 pm, Giancarlo Brocci, founder of the Eroica, will personally welcome the participants. In the evening, a group ride organised by CicloCinema will set off for an open-air cinema in the countryside. The participants will generate the energy for the film projection themselves by pedalling. On Saturday, the event gets underway at 8.00 am. Whilst the cyclists are out on the route, visitors to the town centre can enjoy the Vintage Bike Market, a morning pint and music. Anyone interested can still register at www.eroica.cc.
