Sigma launches new RECO radar rear lights. The Reco 80 Link and Reco 81 Link combine radar technology with clever light functions and networked communication. The devices detect approaching vehicles at a distance of up to 140 metres and warn cyclists in good time. The models are available immediately at a price of 179.95 euros.

With the new Reco radar rear lights, Sigma is launching a technology on the market that warns cyclists of approaching vehicles at an early stage and at the same time ensures better visibility in road traffic. The two models Reco 80 LINK and Reco 81 Link have integrated radar technology that detects approaching vehicles in a 60 degree wide corridor at a distance of up to 140 metres. The system can detect up to eight objects simultaneously and process them in real time. A bright Rear light clearly signals the position of the cyclist to the traffic behind. Additional safety functions such as a brake light and emergency brake light function increase visibility and help to avoid dangerous situations. In conjunction with a radar-compatible GPS bike computer, Reco Link becomes a digital rear-view mirror, providing cyclists with a visual and acoustic representation of the traffic behind them on the display. The devices differentiate between normally approaching objects and fast approaching vehicles.

Differences between the models

The two new radar rear lights were designed for different markets. The Reco 80 Link was specially developed for the German market and is StVZO-compliant. It combines maximum brightness with full radar performance and offers a runtime of up to 15 hours. The Reco 81 Link, on the other hand, is aimed at international markets and has a total of six different light modes. These include a special peloton mode for glare-free riding in a group. Regardless of the selected light mode, the radar performance and safety functions remain identical for both models. Installation is flexible thanks to various adapters. The Reco models can be attached to different seatposts - round seatposts as well as D-shaped and aero versions.

Connectivity and networking

A key feature of the new Reco product category is its versatile connectivity. In combination with the Aura 100 front light, the radar and front light can be paired with each other via Bluetooth using the Link protocol. This allows the rear light to be conveniently controlled via the front light, and the battery status can also be read directly from the front. Using the ANT+ radar profile, the Reco models can also be connected to the Sigma Rox 12.1 Evo or Rox 11.1 Evo GPS bike computers and other devices that support the ANT+ radar profile. Cyclists then receive visual and acoustic warning signals as soon as vehicles approach from behind. From spring 2026, Sigma Ride app users will also be able to benefit from the safety features of the Reco models. The Ride app will then also offer the option of being alerted to approaching vehicles both acoustically and visually. Until then, Reco 80 Link and Reco 81 Link can be connected to the Ride app to display the status and perform firmware updates.

Functionality and safety aspects

The Reco radar tail lights were developed to meet the increasing demands on safety technology in increasingly complex road traffic. The radar technology recognises approaching vehicles precisely and reliably in real time. The bright rear light makes cyclists clearly visible to following traffic. The additional safety functions such as brake light and emergency brake light help to defuse critical situations. In conjunction with a compatible GPS bike computer, the system becomes a digital rear-view mirror that provides cyclists with a visual and acoustic display of the traffic behind them. "With Reco, we have developed a radar product that not only lights up, but also thinks," explains Daniel Conka, Division Manager Product Concept at Sigma. "The precise radar warning enables a much more anticipatory and safer driving style. In combination with the Aura 100 Link front light and the Rox GPS bike computers, the result is an intelligent, networked system that makes safety an intuitive experience."
