Slimmed-down classic with a reduced price. The Wahoo Kickr once shook up the smart trainer market. The core version of the Wahoo Kickr now marks the more affordable entry into indoor training with direct drive. The differences to the large, expensive Kickr roller trainer top model are minor: the feet are simpler, there is no handle to carry it, and the flywheel mass has been reduced from 7.2 to 5.4 kilograms. You don't notice much of this when riding. The Wahoo Kickr Core still offers plenty of power, clamps the bike firmly and creates a good pedalling feel.
Compared to older Smarttrainer models, the slimmed-down Kickr version is quieter, but generates resonances at over 60 km/h, which could cause problems during intensive training in a flat. We measured a noise level of 75 decibels at 66 km/h. In conjunction with the tilt simulation Climb and the smart Wahoo fan Headwind the Kickr Core is at the forefront of the virtual worlds of Zwift & Co. The free Wahoo Fitness app is the best solution for all indoor cyclists who want to use the roller trainer primarily as a classic ergometer for their training sessions within their own four walls.
