The Kickr ClimbThe Kickr brake system is located in the fork instead of the front wheel and automatically moves it up and down when uphill or downhill gradients appear in the virtual worlds. However, this automatic system only works with Kickr brakes from 2017 onwards. Alternatively, the incline can also be commanded by remote control from the handlebars. Inclines between minus 10 and plus 20 per cent are simulated. The experience of gravity is impressive; even a ten per cent incline feels like a steep wall when stationary. However, the perfect illusion of riding uphill lacks the feeling of accelerating with every pedal stroke, just like when riding freely uphill. Even when pedalling out of the saddle, the feeling is not quite real. Rigid clamping at the rear and a bit of freedom at the front - that doesn't quite go together. The cable of the remote control rang metallically in the guide tube when pedalling out of the saddle. Nevertheless, it's fun to breathe even more life into virtual tracks with the Kickr Climb.
To match the incline simulator, Wahoo also has a fan for indoor training in its range. The Wahoo Kickr Headwind can vary the intensity of the blower depending on the exertion, coupled to the heart rate.
