Some cyclists use their Smart Trainer all year round and enjoy the time efficiency that indoor training brings. However, even more people switch at least partially from outdoor cycling to indoor cycling in autumn and winter.
Manufacturers of smart trainers are constantly coming up with new ideas to generate the most natural riding experience possible for indoor cycling. From the initial Rocker Plates to lateral flexibility in the feet, as we already know from the Wahoo Kickr, to simulated surfaces (Road feel with the Taxc Neo), there are various options and approaches for a realistic riding experience. With the new Wahoo Kickr Move, the Axis-Feet of the Kickr V6, which allow a slight lateral tilting movement, are joined by a forward-backward movement of the trainer body.
"This built-in two-axis movement creates a feeling that is very similar to cycling outdoors," is how the manufacturer describes the new degrees of freedom of the Wahoo Kickr Move.
The body of the new Smart Trainer from Wahoo stands on roller wheels, which are located on a fixed and slightly curved rail on which the trainer body can easily move forwards and backwards, for example when:
Thanks to the curved track, gravity controls the range of movement. Small movements by the rider lead to small forwards and backwards movements of the trainer's body on its rails, while larger movements, such as a maximum sprint, increase the trainer's range of movement.
A detailed practical test of the new smart trainer from Wahoo is still pending. Then we will see whether the Kickr Move lives up to its promise.
Does the trainer always move with you? No, it can be deactivated via a locking switch for mounting, transport or if you simply don't feel like moving it.
The Wahoo Kickr Move is available for 1599.99 euros (RRP), e.g. available here
Have you ever tried to lift a Smart Trainer out of its packaging? Not that easy. But there are packaging engineers. And they have made it their job to make the journey from delivery to the first ride easier and more pleasant for Wahoo customers.
The Wahoo Kickr Move sits in its packaging with a sliding mechanism. This means that the smart trainer no longer needs to be lifted out of the packaging. In addition, 90 per cent less non-recyclable foam is used. A QR code leads to video instructions - and not just for Kickr Move. The Kickr Core, Kickr and Kickr Move instructions are available depending on the bike specification and all the necessary tools, spacers and accessories are included.
To coincide with the presentation and market launch of the Kickr Move, Wahoo has also developed an adapter that allows the Kickr Climb to follow exactly the same arc as the Kickr Move. This means that both move in harmony with each other. The adapter is attached to the base of the Kickr Climb and is compatible with all Kickr Climb models.
Did Wahoo think "All good things come in threes"? Because in addition to the Kickr Move and the Climb Adapter, there's also a new Kickr Bike available from today - the Kickr Bike Shift.
