Italian footwear manufacturer Gaerne is launching the Carbon G.Fulgor, a road cycling shoe positioned in the upper mid-range segment. The shoe is built around an exceptionally thin full-carbon sole. Gaerne also develops different lasts for its shoes, tailored to foot anatomy and riding style. The fit of the Carbon G.Fulgor is designed to offer a natural and balanced adaptation to the foot, providing support even on long rides.
The upper is made of microfibre, which is perforated across its entire surface to improve air circulation and keep feet dry whilst riding. Inside the shoe is a mesh lining designed to provide additional support and enhance the foot’s stability. The padded tongue is designed to support the shoe’s comfortable and secure fit, as is the heel section, which has been specially designed to be slip-resistant. The insole is anatomically shaped.
The fastening system uses a Boa L6 Dial C rotary fastener, which is micrometrically adjustable. Five cable guides distribute the tension across the shoe. The outer part of the Boa dial is made of soft rubber for a better grip. The system is designed to ensure even distribution without pressure points.
According to Gaerne, the ultra-thin carbon sole is said to be extremely stiff, whilst two air channels in the sole help to ventilate the foot. There are non-slip inserts at the front and a replaceable PU heel at the back for safe walking. The sole is compatible with all clip-in pedal systems.
The Carbon G.Fulgor is manufactured in Italy and is available in sizes 39 to 48, with half sizes also available from 41.5 to 45.5. The recommended retail price is 219.90 euros. The model is also available with a slightly less stiff carbon sole for €169.90.
