On the tarmac and in the crash test, it becomes clear which helmets offer the greatest safety reserves. Seven manufacturers, from Abus to Uvex, each sent an inexpensive and a top model at prices between 100 and 300 euros into the test race. One realisation up front: all the helmets are much better than the standard requires - but some offer a small safety advantage, regardless of price. Here: the Specialized S-Works Evade and the Specialized Search Mips.

The closed helmet shell is typical of the aerodynamically optimised helmet. All-round fit, normal size, fits well on the specified head circumferences; the second most expensive helmet in the test stands out with its aerodynamic, elongated helmet shell; its adjustment system works perfectly, the small adjustment wheel is easier to grip than with Giro; good protection

Great all-round fit, hugs the head perfectly, normal fit, fits the head circumference as specified; compared to the more expensive model, a classic road helmet with no weaknesses and better value for money; both models offer plenty of space for a pigtail.
