Aerodynamics for upright and low riding positions
Mavic developed the Comete Ultimate using CFD simulation and wind tunnel testing. According to the manufacturer, the helmet is said to save an average of nine watts in an upright riding position compared with an unnamed group of test helmets. AeroFlow elements on the shell are designed to control airflow separation.
Ventilation and adjustment
The AirChannel system channels air through large front openings, deep channels and rear vents. For the fit, Mavic relies on the RS360 system with a wraparound retention strap. Mips Air Node Pro and Coolmax padding are designed to reduce rotational forces in the event of a fall and improve moisture management respectively.
Weight, sizes and price
According to Mavic, the Comete Ultimate weighs 300 grams in size M and is available in sizes S, M and L. The recommended retail price is 239 euros. A TOUR test featuring our own measurements of aerodynamics, ventilation and fit is not yet available.
