British bag manufacturer Tailfin is launching two new colourways. Kentucky Bluegrass is available in khaki and olive, whilst Candy Mountain comes in shades of sand and stone. Both colour combinations are available for eight different bag models, ranging from the 0.8-litre top tube bag to the 16-litre pannier.

Since its foundation, Bristol-based Tailfin has produced only black bags. This decision was based on a clear design philosophy: bags should work on any bike, regardless of its colour. The manufacturer is now expanding its range to include two colour combinations, which will remain permanently available. The coloured versions cost the same as the black models and will remain a permanent part of the range.

The two colour options

Kentucky Bluegrass combines khaki with olive. The colour scheme is inspired by outdoor gear and is designed to look better the more it is used. Candy Mountain features a two-tone blend of sand and stone. The light earth tones blend into natural surroundings and have a subtle effect on gravel and forest paths.

The names have a personal origin. ‘Kentucky Bluegrass’ refers to a sleeping mat that Boru McCullagh from the development department uses on his tours. The name ‘Candy Mountain’ comes from the American folk song ‘Big Rock Candy Mountain’, which tells of an unattainable paradise.

Available bag styles

Both colours are available in eight bag types. The smallest option is the 0.8-litre top-tube bag with a zip. There is also a 1.1-litre top-tube bag with a flap closure and a 2.2-litre version in a long shape. There are three sizes to choose from for the frame bags: 2.3 litres, 3.0 litres and 3.8 litres. The CargoPack Rack Top Bag for luggage racks and the 16-litre panniers round off the range.

All coloured models cost the same as the black versions. Tailfin is not charging any extra for the new colour options. The bags are available via the product pages on the manufacturer’s website.

Warranty and replacement following an accident

Tailfin offers a five-year warranty against manufacturing defects from the date of purchase. In the event of defects caused by material faults, the manufacturer will repair or replace the bags. Following a fall, Tailfin offers a 30 per cent discount on equivalent replacement products. The full terms and conditions of the warranty can be found on the manufacturer’s website.
