Trek Speed Concept SLR 9

Trek’s “Speed Concept SLR 9” from 2024 is a state-of-the-art triathlon and time trial bike designed for ambitious athletes. Priced at EUR 14,499, this model offers a combination of advanced technology and high-quality materials, designed for maximum performance and efficiency.

The frame of the Speed Concept SLR 9 is made from 800 Series OCLV Carbon and utilises the KVF (Kammtail Virtual Foil) tube profile, which offers aerodynamic advantages. The T47 bottom bracket ensures a stable and rigid connection between the frame and the crankset. The bike also features an integrated Bento Box and a down tube storage compartment, which provide practical storage space for nutrition and tools.

The bike’s maximum load capacity is 136 kg, whilst it weighs just 8 kg itself, indicating a lightweight yet robust construction. The front and rear Shimano Dura-Ace hydraulic disc brakes, with 160 mm disc diameters, ensure reliable braking performance in all conditions.

The drivetrain consists of high-quality Shimano Dura-Ace components, including the R9250 Di2 front derailleur and the R9200 crankset with a 52/36 gear ratio. The Shimano Dura-Ace R9200 cassette offers a 12-speed drivetrain with a 11–30 range. The Speed Concept’s fork is made of carbon and is aerodynamically shaped, with an integrated brake and stem. The tyres are Bontrager R3s in size 700 x 25, fitted to Bontrager Aeolus RSL 51 wheelsets. These wheelsets are made from OCLV carbon, are tubeless-ready and have a rim height of 51 mm.

The saddle is a Bontrager Hilo Pro Carbon, mounted on a Speed Concept SLR seatpost, which offers either an offset of 11.5 mm or -20 mm. This configuration allows for an optimal riding position for the rider.

In terms of dimensions, the bike has a seat tube length of 52 mm, a top tube length of 52 mm, a reach of 42 mm and a stack of 52 mm. The head tube angle is 72 degrees, whilst the seat tube angle is 78 degrees. The head tube length is 9 mm, the chainstay length is 41 mm and the standover height is 78 mm. The bike’s wheelbase is 100 mm.
