Trek Émonda ALR 5

The 2024 ‘Émonda ALR 5’ model from Trek is a high-quality road bike that stands out for its excellent build quality and advanced technology. Priced at 2,299 EUR, it offers outstanding value for money.

The Émonda ALR 5’s frame is made from ultra-lightweight 300 Series Alpha aluminium and features Invisible Weld Technology, which not only ensures a clean look but also increases the frame’s stiffness and strength. The frame is fitted with a tapered head tube, internal cable routing and flat-mount disc brake mounts, and uses a 142x12 mm thru-axle. The maximum load capacity is 125 kg, whilst the bike itself weighs just 9 kg, making it a lightweight yet robust companion.

The braking system consists of Shimano 105 hydraulic disc brakes, both front and rear, with Shimano RT70 brake discs in a Centre Lock design and a diameter of 160 mm. These brakes offer reliable and powerful braking performance in all conditions.

The Shimano 105 R7120 system is used for gear changes, offering precise and smooth shifting performance across 12 gears. The front derailleur is also a Shimano 105 R7100 in a brazed-on version with a down-swing mechanism. The wheelset consists of Bontrager Paradigm SL wheels, which are tubeless-ready and have an inner width of 21 mm. The front hub has a 100 x 12 mm thru-axle and the rear hub has a 142 x 12 mm thru-axle. The wheels are fitted with Presta valves.

The saddle is a Verse Short Comp with steel struts and a width of 145 mm. The seatpost is a Bontrager Comp made from 6061 aluminium, with a diameter of 27.2 mm, an offset of 8 mm and a length of 330 mm.

The bike’s packaging dimensions are 23 mm wide, 119 mm high and 201 mm long. The other geometry specifications are as follows: reach is 40 mm, stack is 62 mm, seat tube length is 59 mm, top tube length 60 mm, head tube angle 74 degrees, seat tube angle 72 degrees, head tube length 21 mm, chainstay length 41 mm, stack height 83 mm and the wheelbase is 101 mm in total.
