Trek Checkpoint SLR 7

The 2023 "Checkpoint SLR 7" model from Trek is a high-quality gravel bike designed for discerning riders. Priced at 9,299 EUR, it offers first-class performance and innovative technologies. The frame is made from 700 Series OCLV Carbon and features IsoSpeed, which provides excellent shock absorption. In addition, the frame features a down tube storage compartment, internal cable routing, a Ride Tuned seat tube, a chain guide, a T47 bottom bracket, as well as mudguard eyelets and integrated mounting points for a frame bag. The flat-mount disc brake mounts and the 142 x 12 mm thru-axle round off the well-thought-out design. The bike’s maximum load capacity is 125 kg, whilst it weighs just 8 kg.

The Shimano RX810 hydraulic disc brakes at the front and rear, each featuring a Shimano MT800 Centre Lock mount and 160 mm brake discs, deliver reliable braking performance in all conditions. The drivetrain is controlled via the Shimano GRX RX815 Di2 shift lever with an 11-speed system and a Shimano GRX RX815 front derailleur in a brazed-on version. The crankset is a Shimano GRX RX810 with a 48/31 tooth ratio and a crank arm length of 170 mm. The cassette is a Shimano Ultegra HG800 with an 11-34 tooth range, also 11-speed.

The Checkpoint SLR 7’s fork is made of carbon and features a tapered carbon steerer tube as well as rack and mudguard mounts. The flat-mount disc brake mounts and the 12 x 100 mm thru-axle provide additional stability. The handlebars are Bontrager Pro IsoCore VR-SF with a width of 40 cm, whilst the stem is Bontrager Pro Blendr-compatible and has a diameter of 31.8 mm, a length of 80 mm and a 7-degree angle.

The tyres are Bontrager GR1 Team Issue in size 700 x 40, fitted to a Bontrager Aeolus Pro 3V wheelset made from OCLV carbon. These wheels are tubeless-ready and have an internal width of 25 mm. The thru-axles measure 100 x 12 mm at the front and 142 x 12 mm at the rear. The saddle is a Bontrager Verse Elite with austenitic struts and a width of 155 mm, fitted to a Bontrager carbon seatpost with a 5 mm offset.

The bike’s packaging dimensions are 21 mm wide, 119 mm high and 189 mm long. The frame geometry is well thought out: the reach is 40 mm, the stack is 55 mm, the seat tube length is 52 mm and the top tube length is 56 mm. The head tube angle is 72 degrees, the seat tube angle is 74 degrees, the head tube length is 10 mm, the chainstay length is 44 mm and the standover height is 76 mm. The bike’s wheelbase is 103 mm in total.
