Torque spanner

It is impossible to imagine a bicycle workshop, whether professional or amateur, without torque spanners. We can't imagine tightening the saddle and destroying our beloved bike in the process. Or the handlebars don't stay in position because we haven't tightened the bolts sufficiently out of caution. A safety risk! To ensure that neither of these things happens, you should adhere to the torques specified by the manufacturer. A torque spanner helps here. And use the tool correctly.
Conclusion (short form): The Topeak tool is not quite as neat as the Silca one, but thanks to the chain riveter it is the more complete tool and with the flat case it is even more compact
Conclusion (short form): Impresses with outstanding workmanship. Ratchet handle, torque attachment, extension and bits are stored in a waxed case. All connections are held in place magnetically.
Conclusion (short form): A comprehensive package at an attractive price. Perfectly balanced, intuitive to use and adjustable in 0.1 increments with an easy-to-read scale.

Conclusion: The jackets are comfortable against the skin and only rustle softly. The cut is well adapted to the bent posture, but a relatively large amount of fabric billows at the front on the chest and stomach. The collar and sleeves are the right length. Even after washing, the models offer the best weather protection: they are waterproof and rain runs off reliably. The collar and sleeves are long, but not quite as snug as the Alé. The sealed zip is relatively difficult to operate with one hand, but the jackets also fit athletic figures. Plus points for the shoulder chimney for ventilation and the abundant use of reflective material.
Conclusion: The jacket has a high-quality feel, is very comfortable to wear and is pleasantly dry against the skin thanks to its fine waffle structure. The cut is almost perfect in every position, offers plenty of freedom of movement and also remains stable at the back - nothing slips. Together with Gore Wear, the slightly cheaper British brand Le Col shares first place on the podium. The jacket is excellently made and ideally tailored to the racing bike position. The back section extends over the buttocks, the sleeves cover the wrists even when the rider is stretched out, and the collar provides reliable protection from the wind. The zip is easy to operate with one hand thanks to the perfect fit. The jacket also scores top marks for weather protection and features.
Conclusion: The jacket feels like robust rain protection, rustles slightly, but is comfortable and dry against the skin. The cut is perfectly adapted to the racing bike position - the length and shape are ideal for the bent position. Despite the sporty fit, there is still plenty of freedom of movement. With an overall score of 1.5 (men) and 1.4 (women), the Spinshift is the deserved test winner. The women's model comes out on top with its lower weight and smaller pack size. The jacket impresses all round: reliable weather protection even after washing, a zip that can be operated with one hand, well thought-out details. If you have a long neck and upper body, you might wish the collar and back were a little longer - but that's criticism on a high level.
Conclusion: Acid is Cube's own brand and offers a lot of bag for the money. The saddle bag and handlebar bag with roll closure can be removed from the holster, which is practical and shortens loading times. At just under two kilos with a volume of 34 litres, the set is one of the heaviest in the test.
2nd place: Tailfin
Aero-Pack, Half Frame Bag, Top Tube Bag and Bar Bag System are the names of the four bags that we put together as a set for our test.
Set price: 805 Euro
Volume: 35.1 litres
Weight: 2.7 kilogrammes
Conclusion: The most expensive and heaviest set in the test is indestructible and made for continuous use. Even when fully loaded, the bike remains very stable and the luggage is well protected. Requires more time for initial assembly, but then convinces with very easy attachment and removal of handlebar and rear bag.
Conclusion: The German manufacturer's claim is lightweight construction. The set weight of 900 grams for 30 litres of storage space does full justice to this. Many good and well thought-out details.
Conclusion: For a set price of 150 euros, Busch & Müller offers a solid package of Headlights and Rear light. We liked the workmanship, as well as the intuitive operation with a push button and the reliable battery status indicators. The illumination of the road is good, as is the three-hour light duration at the brightest level; the rear light even shines for 24 hours on a single charge. The headlight bracket only fits on round handlebars, but a bracket with Go Pro standard for mounting on the boom is also available as an accessory.
2nd place: Supernova Lights B54 Pro (no rear light)
Conclusion: The Supernova Lights headlight is technically on a par with the Lupine, but is slightly larger. The high and low beam is operated via a test switch with cable connection; there is also an app for controlling the brightness, which is somewhat clearer than that of the competitor. The illumination of the high and low beam is excellent and the light duration at the highest light level is good. The headlight is mounted on the handlebars using a bracket, alternative brackets are available. At the time of testing at the end of 2025, Supernova did not yet offer a retrofit rear light, but according to the manufacturer, this will be available on the market in 2026.
Conclusion: Front light with high beam is one of the best on the market. The headlight illuminates the road, including the edge of the road, brightly and homogeneously, even with low beam. Switching works practically via a radio switch that can be attached anywhere on the handlebars. The headlight achieves a light duration of over three and a half hours at the highest light level; this can be extended using the app connected to the smartphone. The standard holder fits round handlebar cross-sections, alternatives for integrated cockpits are available as accessories. The rear light has an integrated brake light and is mounted on the saddle frame using a magnetic holder.
Conclusion: Top pump, beautifully smooth-running and high-quality workmanship; shortest hose in the test, which can make handling difficult in confined spaces.
Conclusion: For tall people, pumps easily throughout, the pressure gauge is easy to read and measures precisely; the somewhat wobbly cylinder in the metal stand is annoying; long hose.
Conclusion: High-quality workmanship, pumps smoothly, great wooden handle, stable with solid pump head; minor weaknesses in readability and spare parts supply.
Top 3 in the test: photochromatic road bike goggles
Conclusion: With its very pronounced curve, the lightweight Rudy Project sits extremely close to the face. Wind has no chance here. This makes the sleek Italian model particularly suitable for fast riders. The frameless design offers the best all-round visibility. Good adjustability on the nose clip but only moderate anti-fog protection. Still sufficiently good tinting speed.
Conclusion: For just 100 euros, Giant offers an extensively equipped pair of glasses. Thanks to the clear interchangeable filter, the Agos covers almost all visibility conditions, the bluish tint has a brightening and slightly contrast-enhancing effect. The tinting speed is also excellent. Unfortunately, the glasses sit high and loose - the temples are slippery and the frame interferes with the field of vision.
Conclusion: The expensive but high-quality Evil Eye fits like no other - tight but comfortable - and perfectly balanced on the face thanks to extensive adjustment options. Draughts don't stand a chance here. Top: Their slightly orange tint enhances the contrasts in the terrain. The Trailsense could react a little faster to changes in light, and the initial tint is already quite dark. Available in two sizes.
Conclusion: The bag sits securely on the top tube, but doesn't fit on every racer due to the eyelet position; access to the storage compartment is also great on the go, the inner compartment and the cable feed-through at the front are practical; the outer material is tight, the zip isn't quite perfect.
Conclusion: Lightweight; slim, low, sleek design; top workmanship; the front slot for the screw fastening is far away from the front edge; the zip runs smoothly, access to the long compartment is easy on the go; the material does not let water through, the zip only lets a few drops through.
Conclusion: Very well made; with very small frames the lid can hit the top of the saddle; can be loaded and unloaded very easily thanks to the large lid with magnetic catch, the mesh compartment inside is practical; allows many mounting points thanks to variable eyelets and straps, but the front hole is set far back.
Conclusion: Low weight, top function and good handling. The Uebler I21 Z60 does almost everything right. The simple design of the i21 Z60 saves weight and enables the smallest storage dimensions. Despite this, the Uebler bike carrier is stable and has a high-quality finish. It is easy to attach to the coupling and clamps by folding down the rails - clever! Thanks to the wide bracket and easily adjustable grippers, the Uebler also holds complicated frame shapes. Only very long wheelbases lack a little room for manoeuvre - longer locking straps are available as an option. The conical rails are suitable for almost all tyre widths.
Conclusion: With a span like a condor, the Eufab transports even the longest wheelbases. The adjustable wheel shoes are great. All locking straps are metal-reinforced, rubberised and are also sufficient for fat tyres or voluminous down tubes. In addition to the solid workmanship, the long clamping lever, the carrying handle and the bus-compatible folding function are particularly pleasing. Minor drawback: The bracket offers few clamping positions, and moving the grippers is awkward. Some of the edges are a little sharp.
Conclusion: Big ship for a big budget. However, the Thule bike carrier is unrivalled in terms of workmanship, design and handling. It unfolds its rails and licence plate holder like a butterfly. It offers space for all types of bikes - whether long or short, thick or thin frames. The new grippers are perfectly operable and can be moved with one hand, all ratchet straps run smoothly and are easy to release. Clamping levers, plugs and ratchets are positioned within easy reach. Clever: the carrying handle in the rails.
Equipment: seamless straps and cuffs; reflective; Y-straps
Upholstery hardness: soft to medium
Cushion thickness: medium
Note: 1,6
Conclusion: Soft and lightweight material feels like a breath of nothing, but still sits firmly; straps run comfortably between the chest, but are awkward to handle and roll in; silicone on the leg cuffs is noticeable; the padding is well positioned and can withstand long tours.
2nd place: Gorewear Distance Bib Shorts + 2.0 Womens (be quick because they will soon be out of stock)
Conclusion: Super comfortable material with pleasant stretch and excellent cut; skin flatterer without noticeable seams; the box encloses the upper body comfortably, could be slightly higher; wide mesh straps with good stretch in cycling position; firm seat pad with good support; rather for narrow sit bone distances.
1st place: Alé Voltage
Price: 175 Euro
Country of production: Italy
Equipment: Seamless straps and cuffs; reflective
Upholstery hardness: soft
Cushion thickness: medium
Note: 1,3
Conclusion: The Alé Voltage women's shorts are elaborately designed with minimal seams and light compression; the padding is comfortable but not very pressure-resistant. Tight but soft material is a real skin flatterer; leg cuffs and straps are almost perfectly resolved and are among the most comfortable in the test. Slightly short trouser legs.
Cycling shorts for men
Photo: Sandra Schuberth / StoryChief KICycling shorts can make the crucial difference between arriving and cancelling
Conclusion: Super comfortable material with pleasant stretch and excellent cut; no noticeable seams or seams; airy, sufficiently tight mesh straps; well cushioning but narrow seat pad; large reflective prints and wind protection in the intimate area; top marathon shorts
Equipment: seamless straps and cuffs; reflective; mesh back
Upholstery hardness: medium to hard
Cushion thickness: 12.5 mm
Note: 1,4
Conclusion: Very light, yet robust bib with excellent stretch and a great cut; slight creasing in the crook of the leg, otherwise no noticeable seams and perfectly fitting leg cuffs; firm seat pad with good cushioning; our favourite for long distances.
Equipment: seamless straps and cuffs; mesh back, small back pocket
Upholstery hardness: medium
Cushion thickness: medium
Note: 1,2
Conclusion: Excellent cut and top workmanship; very few inconspicuous seams; wide, pleasantly tight straps; leg cuffs fit perfectly even without silicone; upper body is comfortably enclosed up to above the navel; strikingly long trouser legs, very good long-distance padding
Conclusion: Slim bottle, ergonomic spray head, adjustable nozzle, good spray pattern and good adhesion; the cleaning power is convincing, leaves little residue on aluminium, powder coating and polycarbonate; the bottle is made from recycled material
Conclusion: One of the few cleaners in the test that has its strengths in dissolving grease and is very gentle on materials; the slim bottle supports the good action thanks to the ergonomic handle; the gel-like agent can be dosed well, but does not always hit the dirt accurately
Conclusion: Bulbous bottle with low centre of gravity presses slightly into the crook of the thumb over time, otherwise handling is very good in terms of dosage and spray pattern; dissolves standard dirt quickly and completely and offers top cleaning performance with the best material compatibility
