A few years ago, the Danish manufacturer was primarily known for its weatherproof overshoes and gloves. However, like so many brands, GripGrab has since expanded its range and now offers a complete range of cycling clothing.
One Bib ShortsWe've never tested a pair of GripGrab from the Danes before, so we were all the more excited to see how well GripGrab fared in comparison to the established manufacturers. In terms of construction and features, there is little to criticise. The laser-cut leg cuffs have no seams and are covered with a fine silicone layer for better grip when pedalling. The same applies to the pleasantly stretchy straps - there are no seams here either.
GripGrab uses a very light yet robust fabric for the material, which is confirmed by a glance at the scales. At 165 grams, the Grinta Bib Shorts are one of the lightest trousers in the test. Although the material feels a little rougher when you slip them on than the skin-flattering fabric of the Gorewear, the fit is beyond reproach. The waistband closes a little higher and wraps the rider comfortably without constricting.
The Explorer HCS pad from Elastic Interface is sufficiently wide and well positioned, and its thickness hardly decreases towards the outside. It provides good support for the sit bones in a sporty position. The density is also pleasantly high and promises lasting comfort on long journeys.
Unobtrusive but very high-quality, robust trousers with great seat padding.
GripGrab tailors a very light and simple, yet robust bib with excellent stretch and a great cut. Slight creases form in the bend of the hips when pedalling, otherwise there are no noticeable seams and the leg cuffs fit perfectly. The firm seat pad offers excellent cushioning and plenty of support - even over the long haul. Our favourite for long distances.
