Carbon handlebars, dropper posts or brake calipers: modern mountain bikes are very unforgiving when it comes to tightening torque. Anyone who regularly carries out maintenance should therefore not rely on guesswork. The The 3min19sec Premium torque wrench is currently available at a significantly lower price and could come at just the right time for many DIY enthusiasts.

In the TOUR test, it was the precision that impressed most of all

The 3min19sec had already demonstrated in our major torque wrench comparison test that affordable tools do not necessarily produce poor results. At the time, the wrench was the cheapest model in the test and surprised everyone with its excellent readings.

The tool was particularly impressive in terms of precision, achieving the top score of ten out of ten. The accessory pack also scored highly, with nine out of ten. Overall, we recommended the spanner as a great value-for-money choice for DIY enthusiasts.

The set includes the most essential Allen key bits ranging from 2.5 to 10 millimetres, as well as Torx T25 and T30 bits. Everything is packed in a compact soft case.

Wide adjustment range for typical road bike maintenance tasks

The torque wrench covers a range from 2 to 26 newton-metres, making it suitable for almost all standard assembly work on road bikes. The scale is neatly laser-etched and can be adjusted in fine increments of 0.2 Nm.

Weighing 262 grams and measuring 220 millimetres in length, the tool is pleasantly compact. According to the manufacturer, the measurement tolerance is plus or minus four per cent. In our test, the deviation was virtually zero.

The larger version, with an adjustment range of 40 to 200 Nm, is also currently heavily discounted. bike-components is asking just 29.99 euros for the Large torque wrench from our own brand 3min19sec. If you buy both items as a set, you’ll be able to carry out all work on your bike even more precisely than before, for well under a hundred euros.

However, the tool wasn’t perfect in the test. The comparatively short handle doesn’t fit comfortably in the hand. Furthermore, the ratchet sometimes ran a little roughly. During continuous use, there were occasional instances where the mechanism didn’t operate quite smoothly.

Important: The locking mechanism must be fully locked in place after adjustment. If this is not done, the set value may change.
