Ackermann, who rode for Team Bora for a long time, is contesting his second Tour de France in a row for Israel - Premier Tech. The goal: a stage win. The 31-year-old is a force to be reckoned with in the bunch sprints, but Ackermann, who has already won stages at the Giro d'Italia and the Vuelta a España, can also be a force to be reckoned with on the more demanding climbs.

Phil Bauhaus

Bauhaus is a force to be reckoned with in the Tour de France sprints. The speedy man from Bocholt came close to winning a stage at the Tour of France in 2023 and 2024, finishing second in both races. Can he hit the big time this year?

Buchmann's speciality is the mountains. The rider from Ravensburg, who was long under contract with Bora, is attacking for the French team Cofidis this year. After finishing fourth overall in the 2019 Tour de France, Buchmann was long regarded as the German hope for the overall classification. The 32-year-old is unlikely to make it that far forward this year. However, a top 10 place or a stage win in the mountains may be on the cards.

Florian Lipowitz

There's no doubt about it: Lipowitz is the shooting star of German cycling. The 24-year-old is regarded as an extremely talented tour rider, which he proved with seventh place at the 2024 Vuelta, second place at Paris-Nice 2025 and most recently third place at the Critérium du Dauphiné, the Tour dress rehearsal. Nominally, he will start the Tour as Red Bull's number two behind captain Primož Roglič and should help the Slovenian to a podium finish.

Marius Mayrhofer

Mayrhofer will start for the Swiss Tudor team, which is participating with a wildcard. The 24-year-old, who won the tough one-day Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race in Australia in 2023, is likely to prove himself on the medium-difficulty stages.

Niklas Märkl

For Märkl, his Tour de France debut is a dream come true. The 26-year-old will mainly be working as a helper for his Dutch racing team Picnic PostNL.

Nils Politt

Nils Politt is competing in his ninth Tour de France. His main task is to support the captain and superstar Tadej Pogačar as a strong and tall driver in difficult racing situations and to keep him out of the wind. Politt is in demand as a kind of "bodyguard". He will also chase down breakaway groups as a pacemaker.

Jonas Rutsch

After switching from EF Education - EasyPost to Intermarché - Wanty, Rutsch is tackling his third Tour de France. The team is clearly focussed on Biniam Girmay, the winner of the 2024 green jersey. Rutsch will also have to put himself at his service. There may be some freedom for breakaway attempts.

Maximilian Schachmann

Schachmann has two captains in the team: with Remco Evenepoel, the Belgians from Soudal Quick-Step are once again aiming for the Tour podium in the overall standings. With Tim Merlier, the team is chasing sprint victories. Schachmann is unlikely to have much room for individual freedom.

Georg Zimmermann

Zimmermann will be at the start of the Tour de France 2025 as the newly crowned German champion. Just like Rutsch, he will also be in the service of Biniam Girmay. Nevertheless, Zimmermann is always good for a top result. In 2023, the Augsburg native already finished second once on a Tour stage.
