Alpecin-Deceuninck: The first year in the World Tour

Alpecin-Deceuninck is one of the up-and-coming teams of recent years and will be licensed as a World Tour team for the first time in 2023. The hybrid road and cyclocross racing team built around Mathieu van der Poel has grown year on year with the all-rounder who has matured into a top star. Founded in 2009 primarily to give cyclocross pros such as two-time world champion Niels Albert and the Germans Marcel Meisen and Philipp Walsleben a small road programme, the focus increasingly shifted to the road with the signing of van der Poel, the grandson of French cycling idol Raymond Poulidor.

The Belgians have nothing to hide in 2023. The team no longer consists solely of MVDP. Team-mate Jasper Philipsen is one of the best sprinters in the world. With the signings of Kaden Groves and Ramon Sinkeldam, the group of fast men has been further strengthened. For the classics, Alpecin-Deceuninck has also recruited first-class riders in Sören Kragh Andersen and Quinten Hermans, who make the team difficult to predict.
