The TOUR Transalp 2022 came to an end with the seventh stage. It was a particularly emotional day for both the participants and the organisers. However, before toasting the success of the racing bike stage race across the Alps, there were another 70 kilometres and 1500 metres of altitude difference on the programme from Roncone to Arco on Lake Garda.

The participants stood at the start line in Roncone on the seventh day with mixed feelings. There was a mixture of relief, joy, pride, but also a little melancholy in the air. The seventh day of the TOUR Transalp 2022 had begun, meaning that a week of crossing the Alps by road bike was coming to an end.

Over 3 passes on the way to the church square in Arco

But before their legs could cool down in Italy's largest lake, hundreds of participants had to conquer another 70 kilometres and 1500 metres in altitude. From Roncone, the route first led the athletes over a saddle down to Tione on the banks of the Sarca. Before heading towards Lake Garda, there was a short detour in the shadow of the mighty Brenta massif. Here the starters pedalled up the Passo Daone, which is an attractive road bike pass despite its shortness, especially because of its sweeping descent down to the banks of the Sarca. Here, a further 400 metres in altitude awaited the athletes up to Passo Duron. The last metres in altitude of the last pass of this year's TOUR Transalp, the Passo del Ballino, were then quickly climbed to soon pass the turquoise shining Lago di Tenno and, with a view of Lake Garda, only roll downhill to the Magnolia Avenue at the church square in Arco. The finish line was crossed there with great emotion by numerous finishers.

After the two-year forced break due to the pandemic, the several hundred participants and all the organisers and helpers were delighted. The two winners in the men's category from Team Strassacker 2/radsportnews.com also spoke enthusiastically about the great sense of community and the fair fighting spirit of the participants. "When we crashed yesterday, the Stipbike Racing Team was waiting for us. That really is great sportsmanship," said the two overall winners full of enthusiasm.

We can look back on a successful, atmospheric and collectively fantastic TOUR Transalp 2022. But first of all, it's time for this year's participants to celebrate their great achievement and let the unforgettable impressions sink in.
