SQlab presents the 612R Ergowave 2.0 Carbon. The road bike saddle weighs from 125 grams and uses carbon struts with a 7x9 millimetre cross-section. According to the manufacturer, the Flex-Wing technology offers up to 60 per cent relief in the perineal area. The model is available in four widths from 12 to 15 centimetres and costs 349.99 euros. The saddle will be available from specialist retailers from June.

With the 612R Ergowave 2.0 Carbon, SQlab is launching a new road bike saddle onto the market. The model marks the start of a product line with a revised design and new materials. The saddle is aimed at sporty, ambitious riders who value efficient power transmission and a stable riding position. The manufacturer is not positioning the product as a comfort solution, but as a tool for performance-orientated riders.

Stepped saddle principle and design

The 612R 2.0 Carbon is based on SQlab's stepped saddle principle. The design creates a defined seating position for the sit bones and relieves pressure on the perineal area. The short, sporty design combined with a pronounced dip is intended to enable an aerodynamic riding position. This geometry is aimed at riders who prefer a sporty, aggressive riding position on a road bike.

Flex-Wing technology with lateral flexibility

The Flex-Wing technology is a central element of the saddle. It combines high longitudinal stiffness with targeted lateral flexibility. According to the manufacturer, the design adapts dynamically to the pedalling cycle. The relief in the perineal area is said to be up to 60 per cent. The width of the relief zone is proportionally adjusted to the respective saddle width and thus ensures anatomically adapted pressure distribution across all four widths offered.

Carbon components and weight

Carbon struts with a cross-section of 7x9 millimetres and a carbon shell form the structural basis of the 612R 2.0 Carbon. Depending on the width selected, the weight is 125 grams. This design aims to minimise weight while maintaining high stiffness. The saddle is available in four widths: 12, 13, 14 and 15 centimetres. This gradation enables adaptation to different sit bone distances.

System approach with SQ-Bib Shorts

The 612R Ergowave 2.0 Carbon is part of a system approach. SQlab recommends combining it with the SQ-Bib Shorts ONE12 3.0. The integrated PHNTM Technology is based on a highly compressed, reduced seat pad. This is designed to retain the characteristics of the saddle and clearly define the interface between the body and the bike. Both products follow the approach of reducing to the essentials.
