We wanted to know how well the 115 gram gravel pump can pressurise and asked for a performance comparison. Its rivals: the SKS Rennkompressor floor pump and the slightly larger Lezyne Tech Drive HV mini pump, which has proven itself among colleagues.
The task: to inflate a 40 millimetre wide gravel tyre from 0.5 to 2.5 bar. The floor pump (38.5 millimetre piston diameter) needed just ten strokes and the Lezyne with a 24.5 millimetre piston needed 65. However, with the very handy Zefal pump (18.5 millimetre piston diameter), 220 powerful pump strokes were required to bring the tyre up to the desired pressure.
Consequently, we recommend the small Zefal for slim gravel or large-volume road bike tyres (28 millimetres). We liked the good workmanship, the compact shape and the handling with the integrated, flexible pump tube.
