Fast and affordable? Is that even possible? TOUR put ten current competition road bikes between 3000 and 5000 euros to the test. Among them: the Storck Aerfast.4 Comp Disc Ultegra for 4999 euros.

Storck Aerfast.4 Comp Disc Ultegra - Faster is possible's hardly

In last winter's test, the Aerfast.4 Pro Disc (201 watts) was beaten by the Simplon Pride II (199 watts) by just two watts, leaving the aero racer from Vorarlberg with the title of the fastest production bike in the world (TOUR 2/2021). Markus Storck is now presenting the Aerfast.4 Comp Disc as a more affordable version of his race model, which once again scores with fabulous aerodynamics. The racer only needs 202 watts to maintain a speed of 45 km/h.

This not only puts the Aerfast.4 Comp at the top of this comparison test, but also pushes it up to third place in the eternal TOUR best list. Like the more expensive Pro version, the almost identically equipped Aerfast.4 Comp also benefits from the optimised front end in the wind tunnel: the extremely wide fork, adapted to the UCI regulations, and the flat aero cockpit offer the wind hardly any surface to attack and make the Storck the fastest bike under 5000 euros.

And even more important: in contrast to the Aerfast.4 Pro with the Red eTap 1x12 from SRAM, the Comp is more versatile thanks to its double chainring and can also tackle mountainous terrain.

However, a little training is required for high per centages, as the gearing is relatively race-like. In general, the Storck is a thoroughbred racer: on hardly any other racer do you sit more stretched out and higher above the handlebars. Why is it still not enough to win the test? Because the carbon seat post only offers moderate suspension comfort compared to the competition and impacts are passed on to the rider relatively unfiltered.

Storck made the Aerfast.4 Comp exclusively available to TOUR and announced that it will be available from mid-January. With Shimano's mechanical Ultegra drivetrain and fast aero wheels from DT Swiss, it costs 4999 euros - a very attractive offer considering the strong aero performance.
