The 18 World Tour teams are automatically included, as are the two best Pro teams from last year (Lotto-Dstny and Israel-Premier Tech). In addition, two wildcards were awarded by the organiser Unipublic. These will go to the two Spanish second-division teams in 2024 Equipo Kern Pharma and Euskaltel-Euskadiwho both last competed in the Vuelta in 2022.
The Vuelta a Espana 2024 will take place from 17 August to 8 September. The route was unveiled back in December 2023. The start will be in Lisbon, and the course will once again be very climb-heavy with nine mountain finishes. The final stage this year is an individual time trial in Madrid.
In 2023, Team Jumbo-Visma (2024 Visma | Lease a Bike) celebrated a triple triumph. Sepp Kuss won ahead of Jonas Vingegaard and Primoz Roglic.
