The mixed relay at the World Cycling Championships has only been around since 2019 and had to be cancelled for the first time in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic. The discipline is therefore only in its 6th edition. The German team has finished on the podium in four of the five editions and even won the title in 2021. So the prospects are good - unlike some other teams, the Germans are sending some of their strongest riders to the start. As in Zurich 2024, where the German team missed out on the gold medal by one second, Franziska Koch and Antonia Niedermaier are back in the line-up. Miguel Heidemann will also be competing again, while Justyna Czapla, Jonas Rutsch and the young Louis Leidert are new to the team.
The start times are divided into three blocks, with the German team, last year's second-best team, only starting in the third block. The first lap of 20.9 kilometres will be ridden by the three men from each nation. As soon as the second man of a team has crossed the finish line, the women will take to the track.
