Professional cyclist Rigoberto Uran has secured victory on the 17th stage of the 77th Tour of Spain.
After 162.3 kilometres from Aracena to Monasterio de Tentudia, the 35-year-old Colombian won the sprint from a breakaway group ahead of the Frenchman Quentin Pacher and Jesus Herrada from Spain.
The Slovenian title defender Primoz Roglic, in second place overall, did not start the day's stage with the mountain finish at 1100 metres due to the consequences of his crash the day before. The Slovenian had neither broken anything nor suffered a concussion. However, the bruises and the associated pain were too great for Roglic, according to the sporting director of the Jumbo-Visma team, Addy Engels.
Remco Evenepoel rides towards victory in the Vuelta. The Belgian now leads the overall standings by 2:01 minutes ahead of the Spaniard Enric Mas. Third is Mas compatriot Juan Ayuso Pesquera, already 4:51 minutes behind.
On Thursday, the 192-kilometre section between Trujillo and Alto de Piornal with three mountain classifications awaits the riders. The race ends next Sunday in Spain's capital Madrid.
