Fabian Wegmann's assessment

"On the way to Marburg, it's all up and down all day. No huge mountains, but hardly a metre flat either," says route expert Fabian Wegmann. "It's not a day for the climbers. It will be interesting for breakaways. But the teams will probably keep everything together and quickly catch early breakaway groups." But a surprise is definitely possible.

In the end, a sprinting classics rider with an explosive start could have the best chances: "After the first finish in Marburg, there are two waves that are really tough. From the last climb, it's all downhill and flat for the last kilometre and a half to the finish." If you arrive here with a lead of five or six seconds, you can make it. Conclusion: The tough finale should be decided by a few riders. Breakaways near the finish have a good chance of gaining a decisive advantage.
