Phil Bauhaus (Bahrain - Victorious) sprinted to second place on stage 4 of the Tour Down Under and was only narrowly beaten by Bryan Coquard (Cofidis). After 157.2 kilometres between Glenelg and Victor Harbor, there was a sprint in a thinned-out peloton in which two more German sprinters, Tim Torn Teutenberg (Lidl - Trek/8th place) and Henri Uhlig (Alpecin - Deceuninck/9th place), finished in the top 10.

The ochre-coloured jersey of the overall leader remains on the shoulders of Javier Romo (Movistar Team), who had taken it on stage 3 the day before. However, the Spaniard's lead dwindled to four seconds because second-placed Jhonatan Narvaez (UAE Team Emirates - XRG), who finished third on the day, gained four seconds time bonus.
The Tour Down Under 2025 continues on Saturday with the queen stage, which ends on Willunga Hill and is likely to decide the outcome of the tour, which ends on Sunday.
