The Tour de Suisse Women 2025 starts on 12 June 2025 with a challenging stage around Gstaad. The organisers have designed a 95.5-kilometre route with a total of 1784 metres of ascent for the start of the four-day tour. Immediately after the official start, the road begins to climb towards Saanenmöser - 5.3 kilometres at an average gradient of 4.5 per cent. Shortly afterwards, the Jaun Pass, the main obstacle of the stage, awaits the peloton. This first major challenge is likely to result in a selection in the peloton and could be a stumbling block for some riders with ambitions for the overall classification.
As an important transport axis, the Jaun Pass connects two language regions of Switzerland. In winter, the area around the pass is a popular ski resort for families. For professional cyclists, however, the climb is a serious hurdle. In total, the ascent is 8 kilometres at 8.4 percent.
After crossing the Jaun Pass, the route of the 1st stage of the Tour de Suisse Women 2025 leads the riders back to Gstaad, where the finish line is crossed after 95.5 kilometres. The well-known holiday resort in the Bernese Oberland is not only known for its charming chalet villages and car-free promenade, but is also increasingly becoming an insider tip for cycling fans.
The first stage of the Tour de Suisse Women 2025 promises to be an exciting start to the tour. With the Jaun Pass as the central obstacle, the favourites for the overall classification will already be challenged on the first day.
