The route of the Tour de Suisse 2025 has been finalised. The start and finish locations are known, as are the elevation profiles of the stages. Once again, the routes of the eight-day tour are tough. Only on the first and last stages do the pros have to conquer less than 2000 metres in altitude.

The stages of this year's Tour de Suisse are well known, and once again there are plenty of metres in altitude to contend with for the pros. In 2025, the organiser is dispensing with a short "introductory time trial", which is why the riders have to be wide awake straight away. The following stages will once again take them over several mountain passes, while a tough mountain time trial awaits on the final stage.

*Distances and altitude according to the organiser

The race starts in Küssnacht, where the riders will arrive on the first day. After stage 1, the route heads to Schwarzsee, the easternmost point of the tour, which is the finish of stage 2. After that, the stages run in a row until a detour to Italy is made on day 4 with the finish in Piuro (Valchiavenna). The riders return to Lake Lucerne for the final mountain time trial, so that the start and finish of the Tour de Suisse are only separated by a few kilometres.

Tour de Suisse 2025: Many metres in altitude and the Splügen Pass to Italy

At 2114 metres, the Splügen Pass is an absolute highlight of this year's Tour de Suisse. From just under 300 metres above sea level, the 4th stage climbs steadily up to the pass - there is no rest for the riders here. After crossing the pass, the Tour de Suisse makes a short visit to Italy, arriving in Piuro (Valchiavenna).

However, the crossing of the San Bernadino Pass and the Julier Pass on stage 5 will provide even more metres in altitude. With 3620 metres of climbing, the stage, which also has a ramp at the finish, is likely to create time gaps in the overall classification and may even decide the race.

But also in the mountain time trial, on the last day of the Tour de Suisse, the riders have to give it their all once again after seven exhausting days with countless metres of climbing over 10.1 kilometres.

Stage start in Chur

Stage 6 starts this year in Chur, the oldest city in Switzerland. This means that the canton of Graubünden is also worthily represented and the route of the Tour de Suisse 2025 is complete. The riders will have an impressive view of the Säntis massif. This 6th stage then leads to Europe's largest waterfall in Neuhausen, the Rhine Falls, which is also the finish of the stage.
