The 6th stage of the Tour de Suisse 2025 promises a mixture of challenging climbs and flatter passages. The route takes the riders over 186.7 kilometres from the oldest city in Switzerland, Chur, to Neuhausen am Rheinfall. With a total of 2391 metres in altitude, the riders can expect another challenging stage. Nevertheless, the sprinters should have a good chance of winning the day due to the topographically less demanding second part of the stage. The official starting signal will be given at 12.30 pm and the finish is expected at around 5 pm.

Tactical considerations

The combination of flat sections and the demanding finale opens up various tactical possibilities. The almost 2400 metres in altitude provide opportunities for a strong breakaway group that could break away in the mountainous first part of the stage. This means that both the sprinters' teams and the general classification teams will be challenged to control the race. It will be crucial for the sprinters to survive the climbs and still have enough strength for the final sprint in the finale.

Routing and highlights

The route takes the riders through some of Switzerland's most picturesque regions. After the start in Chur, the oldest town in the country, the peloton crosses Toggenburg. This holiday region is nestled between the seven Churfirsten peaks and the mighty Säntis massif, providing the riders with a breathtaking backdrop. The route continues to Schaffhausen, where the historic old town and the Munot fortress are sights along the way. Europe's largest waterfall, the Rhine Falls, provides a spectacular backdrop for the stage finale. The combination of scenic beauty and sporting challenge makes this stage a highlight of the Tour de Suisse 2025.
