It had been known for some time that the Tour de Suisse 2024 would start in Vaduz (Liechtenstein) and finish in Villars-sur-Ollon. In mid-December, the organisers also confirmed Rüschlikon, Ambri, Cari and Blatten as stage locations for the men's race. On 22 February, the organisers announced the final stage locations for the men's race: Regensdorf, Steinmaur, the Gotthard Pass and Locarno. However, the Nufenen Pass had to be cancelled on the men's queen stage (more here). And the women's course is now complete (more here).

Tour de Suisse 2024: Mountain finish on the Gotthard Pass

The 3rd stage will end in Rüschlikon on Lake Zurich and the 4th stage will start there. The day will end with a mountain finish on the Gotthard Pass. This year, the legendary mountain will be approached from the north side via Schöllenschlucht and Andermatt. The last arrival of the Tour de Suisse on the Gotthard Pass was won by Egan Bernal in 2019. Back then, the pass was tackled from the south via the Tremola.

The start of stage 5 is in Ambri in Ticino, and the day ends with a mountain finish in Cari. The Tour de Suisse last visited Cari in 2016 - the winner back then was the Colombian Darwin Atapuma in the BMC jersey.

The final ascent to the holiday resort of Cari with its 22 hairpin bends is reminiscent of the legendary Alp d'Huez and will provide a spectacle - Gabriele Gendotti, OC President.

Return to Blatten

Stage 6 also begins in Ticino. The starting point is Locarno. It will be another day for the mountain specialists, as the stage ends with a mountain finish in Blatten in Valais. It is an anniversary for the town. The Tour de Suisse returns 50 years after the last mountain finish. In 1974, the Spaniard Gonzalo Aja won in Blatten and Eddy Merckx won the tour. The last two stages around Villars-sur-Ollon will complete the Tour de Suisse 2024.
