Remco Evenepoel (Soudal Quick-Step) won the time trial in Geneva with a time of 20:33 minutes. It's no secret that the Belgian can time trial, but the gap to second-placed João Almeida (UAE Team Emirates - XRG) is considerable. Time trial specialists such as Stefan Küng (Groupama - FDJ) and Rémi Cavagna (Groupama - FDJ) had to admit defeat. Alberto Bettiol (XDS Astana Team), on the other hand, put in a committed ride and secured third place behind the two GC riders. Evenepoel was delighted with his performance after the stage.
I realised that I wouldn't arrive at the Tour de Romandie in top form. But I'm very happy with the victory today - Remco Evenepoel
The overall classification was shaken up and rearranged on the last day of the tour. Lenny Martinez (Bahrain - Victorious) and Lorenzo Fortunato (XDS Astana Team) were unable to maintain their places from the previous day. Almeida moved into first place with his good time trial and thus wins the Tour de Romandie 2025. While Martinez was able to take second place in the overall standings, Fortunato was knocked off the podium. Instead, Jay Vine (UAE Team Emirates - XRG) can celebrate third place in the tour. In addition to a great second place in the overall classification, Martinez secured the best young rider jersey, while Ben Zwiehoff (Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe) took the mountains jersey. Team UAE Team Emirates - XRG can also celebrate the best sprinter's jersey, which was won by Jay Vine (UAE Team Emirates - XRG).

The time trial in Geneva is also the final stage of the Tour de Romandie 2025. With 17.1 kilometres and a small climb in the second part of the route, the 5th stage of the tour left it completely open as to who could take the stage win at the end. However, the stage was about more than just winning the day, as the time gaps in the overall standings between the best riders were only a few seconds. The young talent Lenny Martinez and Lorenzo Fortunato are not known as outstanding time trialists, which is why an exciting finale was to be expected.
The Swiss time trial specialist Stefan Küng set a promising time at the time check after the climb, but was unable to maintain this performance until the finish. Alberto Bettiol, on the other hand, impressed with a fast performance and set the fastest time. With a lead of more than 15 seconds over the fastest rider up to that point, he could almost dream of winning the stage. However, this dream only lasted until Evenepoel's intermediate time.
Shortly after the start, you could see from Evenepoel's body language that he was determined to win the stage. The Belgian rider approached every corner as aggressively as possible and used every centimetre of the route to the end. At the intermediate time it was already 10.8 seconds ahead, which the Soudal Quick-Step rider was able to extend to 18.07 seconds by the finish.
While Evenepoel was fighting for the stage win, João Almeida had to fight for victory in the overall standings. With a solid split time and eleven seconds behind Evenepoel, Almeida continued to press on the accelerator and lost almost no time until the finish. After the intermediate times of Martinez and Fortunato, it was clear that it would be enough for the Portuguese rider to take the overall victory. The two leading riders at this point were already too far behind at the intermediate time to catch up.
