Less than two weeks before the Tour de France, defending champion Tadej Pogacar has completed a successful dress rehearsal by winning the Tour of Slovenia.
Pogacar wins on the final stage
The 23-year-old cycling star also won the 155.7-kilometre final stage from Vrhnika to Novo Mesto and took the overall victory.
Pogacar won the 2020 and 2021 Tour of France and is once again the top favourite this year. His compatriot Primoz Roglic is most likely to be in contention for overall victory.
Full focus on the Tour de France
Pogacar now wants to concentrate fully on the start of the tour in Copenhagen for the next few days and is not planning to take part in the national championships next weekend.
Possibly also out of concern about corona: Pogacar's UAE team-mate Mikkel Bjerg from Denmark tested positive. As a precaution, his Norwegian team-mate Vegard Stake Laengen also had to leave the team.
