There was a lot of concern among the riders beforehand after three professional cyclists had to return home at the weekend due to a positive corona test.
Once before the start of the Tour de France in Copenhagen and on the rest days, coronavirus tests were mandatory for the riders. However, many teams had voluntary tests carried out in order to recognise infections in good time. On Sunday, all riders had to pass through a test tent for the swab test after the ninth stage.
"There's always a bit of fear involved. It (the virus, editor's note) is going around, you can see that. One or two riders are already out. I hope I make it through here in one piece," said German road cycling champion Nils Politt from the Bora-Hansgrohe-The team manager Ralph Denk added: "I tried to ignore the issue. If the result comes, that's all well and good."
