How the 3rd stage of the Simac Ladies Tour 2024 went

The wind tore the peloton apart early on during the ride around Zeewolde. A strong group of 22 riders broke away. Almost all the favourites and the yellow jersey of Zoe Bäckstedt (Canyon//SRAM Racing) were among them. Only Lieke Nooijen (second overall) and Riejanne Markus (both Visma | Lease a Bike) were missing from the top riders. The cooperation at the front lasted until around ten kilometres before the finish. Then Lidl-Trek tried to break up the leading group. First Ellen van Dijk attacked, then Elisa Longo Borghini. Team SD Worx - Protime was thus forced to follow. It was world champion Lotte Kopecky herself who closed the gap to Longo Borghini.

Shortly afterwards, Franziska Koch (Team dsm-firmenich Post NL) gave it a go. The German had Christine Majerus (Team SD Worx - Protime) in tow. However, the Luxembourger had no interest in continuing the move, both were caught and it came to a sprint. Once again, there was no match for the concentrated power of Team SD Worx - Protime. As on the second day, Lotte Kopecky brought her team-mate Lorena Wiebes into position and the Dutchwoman took her second stage win unchallenged.
